A Conversation about Coping with Cancer
Thank you all for your support of our Happy Hour – we’ve had many good chats since we began meeting and have heard from a few specialists in their fields. Over the last couple of meetings, we explored scanxiety and heard from Cheryl Richardson at the Royal Marsden https://redtrouserday.com/scanxiety-something-that-affects-20-of-patients/ and followed up with a talk by Tasha Thor-Straten who, as a one time terminal cancer patient herself knows all about Scanxiety. Link to Tasha’s presentation.
Our next specialist subject: A Conversation on Wellbeing
Having covered the anxiety that comes with a diagnosis, we decided that we should focus on wellbeing now – after all, one of our objectives at RTD is the wellbeing of patients and their families and friends. Who better to lead us in this conversation but one of our RTD members, Ann Allega, an experienced Counsellor who has been treated successfully for Bowel Cancer. So, Happy Hour invites you to a conversation with Ann.
When she was diagnosed, Ann realised that there was no “rule book” on who to tell or what to do. Since then, she has learned a lot and is interested to share with you and hear from you. She feels that talking about what we, who have gone through this journey, have learned will help us and others facing the same thing. Ann’s upbeat message is one of how to move on from cancer.
I hope that you will be able to join us, on the 1stSeptember and join the conversation – I think that there will be something in it for all of us whether you’re a patient, a friend/family member of a patient or just interested in the subject.
