Chairman’s Summary
An amazing year of fund raising (we raised over £40k), awareness raising and our patients having fun, all 3 primary objectives of the Charity. We started as a campaign in 2016 and registered as a charity in 2017, so this marks the end of our 10th year of raising funds to support vital research, bringing our grand total to over £350k. THANK YOU to all of our supporters, friends, donors and volunteers.
We started the year early in January with a visit from some rugby vets from Bishop Auckland who saw the One Show Big Thank You for Paul our founder, where 50 of us visited Stone Park to watch the Saracens rugby team, a hilarious weekend of fun which raised over £3,000 with amazing energy.
Next up was our Campaign Launch in the plush City offices of Cushman & Wakefield organised by Kevin Longhurst, one of our trustees and a partner of the firm. We heard from two research Doctors on a specific project we are supporting called Andromeda which is investigating improving the accuracy of radio therapy treatment using guided MRI technology.
Our annual Curry Night in honour of where the charity was formed, at the Sitara in Archway, N19 was well attended and excellent food served by Raj & his family.
Our Annual Golf & Ramble Day raised £11,000, we did have a small scare with lightening at one stage, but in spite of the rain an excellent day organised by Steve Whatson.
Rob Chapman held a city Pool Hustle which raised over £6,000, Robert has to be our biggest all time fundraiser with a running total in excess of £60k, thank you Robert Chapman.
Andy Cox and his family held their 2nd music concert in memory of their father Ray Cox who had sadly passed away with Bowel Cancer a few years ago, which raised over £2,500.
And finally we held our annual Donor Thank you and awards celebration evening on 20th November at the Offices of Cushman & Wakefield with our Patron Sir Kenneth Olisa giving us some inspirational words and reminding us of all the good that is going on in the UK in spite of the constant stream of bad news.
Well done everyone, and I wish you a restful & healthy run into the Festive Period.

2025 Grant to Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
Each year we give a grant to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity for onward transmission to projects we wish to fund. This year we have made a £50,000 donation (our largest ever) in support of a project being run by Professor Gina Brown, in support of her Mercury 3 Project.
We will be making more news out of this in due course.

At the Annual Donor Event we heard from Dr Micol Lupi, a senior registrar for colorectal surgery, who has been running a number of research projects including Mascara, a database for collecting and tracking women with anal cancer and finding a lot of correlation with the HPF virus. This is radically improving women’s diagnosis and treatment plans for this complex aspect of intestinal cancers.
